Here's a Recipe: Cake Pops

Here's a recipe for a change. I'm going to set aside my usual home décor slash organizing non skills for a minute to tell you about this fabulous, quick and easy recipe I tried a few days ago, first seen on a BBC food programme presented by Lorraine Pascale.
First, to be honest, these little treasures should be called cookie pops instead of cake pops, but who's complaining? I'm certainly not!

Here's a list of ingredients (for 12 cake pops aprox.)

1 packet of Oreo-type chocolate cookies
1 BIG tablespoon of chocolate spread
1 bar of white chocolate (the cheap stuff is better) or any other chocolate you prefer
Chocolate sprinkles or candy sprinkes or any other type of sprinkles you prefer!

You'll also need some toothpicks or lollipop sticks.

Preparation:

1. First, toss the cookies in a food processor until they resemble fine breadcrumbs.

2. Add the spoonful of spread and mix again 'til you get a sort of dough.

3. Take small spoonfuls of dough and roll them tightly into balls and place on a tray with vegetable paper or tin foil.

4. Place in freezer for 15 min aprox. to firm.

5. Meanwhile, melt the white chocolate in a saucepan until nice and smooth.

6. Dip the ends of the lollipop sticks into the melted chocolate. Then, introduce the ends into the cookie balls. Place back in the freezer until chocolate had hardened.

7. Hold each cake pop by the stick and dip into melted chocolate to coat. Then, dip into sprinkles to decorate.

8. Let cool in freezer and voilà!! Wonderful cake pops in a jiffy!!!

If you want a tip, DO NOT skip the freezer parts. I tried to speed things up a bit, so instead of 15min I though 5min would do the trick. It didn't. Result?

Anyone else baking or creating anything delicous this week? Has anyone else tried this recipe? What did you think? Comment below!

    1. I don't recommend not freezing them. They really don't take that long to make, less than 45 min or so (if your quick in the kitchen, maybe even 30min).

  3. These are yummy. My tip would be not to dip the pops into the sprinkles because they do not look very pretty that way and you don't get good coverage. The way I do it is to sprinkle the decorations over the pops when they are standing up.

  4. If you can manage to hold them upright somehow for a minute or two, the frozen oreo mix freezes the chocolate and you get a perfectly round pop.
